A permit is required for the following:

  • Commercial or residential construction
  • Storage, use, and handling of flammable, combustible, explosive, toxic, or other hazardous materials
  • Recreational fires or open burning
  • Special or seasonal event (i.e. sales, carnivals, fairs, rodeos, tree lots, parades)

The above is not inclusive of all activities requiring a fire district permit. Contact Community Risk Reduction at 909-902-5280 to determine what is necessary for a specific project, event, or business.

Applications, plans, and fees for a permit by the Fire District must be submitted separately from the Cities of Chino and Chino Hills and portions of San Bernardino County.

The Fire District utilizes the:

  • 2016 California Fire Code, based on the 2015 International Fire Code
  • Fire District Standards
  • All applicable statutes, codes, and ordinances
