Employee of the Year

Vicki Varnes was selected by her peers as this year’s Employee of the Year.  Vicki is a Human Resources Specialist, who currently resides in the City of Chino Hills with her husband of almost 20 years, Paul.  Paul and Vicki have three children:  Jake, Derrick, and Heather

Vicki was born in Long Beach and grew up in Cerritos.  She graduated from Richard Gahr High School in 1988 and attended Orange County Business College, Rancho Santiago College, and Mt. San Antonio College.

Vicki was hired by the Fire District as an Administrative Secretary in 2005.  Her position was reclassified to Human Resources Specialist in January of this year.  Prior to her current position at Chino Valley Fire District, Vicki’s work experience included working as an Executive Assistant, Office Manager, and Human Resources Assistant for Ulico Insurance Group and MARMAC Engineering.

Vicki serves on the District’s Make a Child Smile Committee, and is a member and newsletter publisher for the Administrative Fire Services Section (AFSS).  She has also held the position of Secretary for the Fire Foundation.

In 2007, Vicki was recognized by management for her exemplary service to the Fire District for her consistent high quality of work and her spirit of enthusiasm and cooperation.  As part of the Employee of the Year selection process, Vicki received numerous compliments from his peers describing her as professional, dedicated to the Fire District and committed to her job.

Vicki is extremely resourceful, creative, and conscientious in all that she does.

In her personal life, Vicki has participated in the Susan G. Komen 3-day/60-mile Breast Cancer Walk and assists with PTA functions as well as her church’s Banquet Committee and children’s Bible Olympics.  Vicki enjoys watching her husband’s and kids’ sports and dance events, playing the piano, and spending time with her family.
