Background
The Fire District Board of Directors declared its intention to transition from an at-large to a by-division electoral system to comply with the California Rights Act (CVRA). The Fire District currently has an “at-large” electoral system where voters from the entire Fire District vote for all members of the Board of Directors. This is in contrast to a “by-division” electoral system where the jurisdiction is divided into smaller divisions and a candidate must reside within that division in order to be elected by voters residing within that division.
We need your help and input!
We need your input to make this change. One of our goals is to solicit input from the community when drawing proposed boundary lines for the new district maps. We will hold several public hearings and encourage the community to participate and define your neighborhoods or community interest; provide input for maps; submit maps, and review draft maps. We also need you to talk to your neighbors and local organization and encourage them to participate and attend the public hearings.
