Chino Valley Fire District

Permits and Plan Review

FAITHFULNESS. INTEGRITY. RESPECT. EXCELLENCE.

The fire district conducts plan reviews and requires permits on a variety of construction-related projects or occupancy operations.  The fire district reviews these plans to ensure compliance with state and local codes, as they pertain to fire and life safety.

The fire district also requires the review of filming and or special events, such as carnivals, fairs, large sporting events, Christmas tree lots, and fireworks booths.

The above list is not inclusive of all activities requiring a permit.  Contact community risk reduction at 909-902-5280, Option 2 and 2, or e-mail permits@chofire.org to determine what is necessary for a specific project or event.

The fire district works in conjunction with the cities of Chino, Chino Hills, and the San Bernardino County Building and Planning Department for all new construction, tenant improvements, and special events.  Applications, plans, and fees for a permit by the fire district must be submitted directly to our office, as this is a separate process from the cities we serve.

For construction plan review information, please go to the downloadable documents section below to find the document “Plan Review Submittal Process.”

Our office provides same-day service for photovoltaic plan review for residential buildings on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  For additional information about photovoltaic plan review and the same-day service, please go to the downloadable documents section below to find the document “PV (Solar) Requirements.”

ELECTRONIC PLAN CHECK SUBMITTAL

Contractors can apply online for a permit and submit their plans through our online permit portal.

Please note: You must have a current state contractor’s license on file with our office before you can use the online permit portal.  If you need to update your license, please send an e-mail to permits@chofire.org.  Please reference “Online Permit Portal” in the e-mail subject line.  You will receive an e-mail response within two business days confirming that the license is on file.

Architects, permit runners, and all special events must submit their applications and plans in person at our district office, located at 14011 City Center Dr., Chino Hills, CA 91709.  Please review the document “Plan Review Submittal Process” in the downloadable documents section below to determine if the project is required to be submitted to one of our approved plan check consultants.
