The Community Risk Reduction (CRR) department is committed to safeguarding the Chino Valley through a professional balance of education, inspections, enforcement, and community outreach. CRR is responsible for adopting and enforcing codes, regulations, and standards. CRR is also responsible for managing various activities and programs such as fire cause and arson investigations, hazardous materials management, the youth fire-setter program, public education, vegetation management, and the community liaison officer (CLO) program.
Community Risk Reduction is divided into three sections: Community development, community compliance, and community preparedness (outreach).
Fees for service are charged for fire inspections, required fire code operational permits, and plan review for development-related projects. Fees are adopted by local ordinances.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Community development ensures code compliance throughout the development process. CRR team members engage with planners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors to set forth fire protection requirements outlined in state codes and local ordinances.
CRR reviews plans, issues various construction-related permits, and performs field inspections based on the approved plans and permits.
COMMUNITY COMPLIANCE
Community compliance ensures fire and life safety within existing facilities throughout the communities we serve by conducting fire inspections. Chino Valley Fire is mandated to conduct annual fire inspections at educational facilities and various residential facilities; all other facilities receive fire inspections on different yearly cycles.
COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS
Community preparedness empowers the public with the knowledge to prepare for any emergency. Community preparedness promotes fire and life safety education to all population segments and works in partnership with community groups, volunteer organizations, non-profits, our local schools, and community leaders. In addition, community preparedness disseminates a variety of information through the fire district’s social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
