Chino Valley Fire District firefighters are gearing up for the upcoming fire season by conducting wildland firefighting training exercises on May 8, May 9, and May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the area of Avenida De Portugal, north of Butterfield Ranch Road; Park Crest and Butterfield Ranch Road; and Butterfield Park on Mystic Canyon.
The drill will offer a great training opportunity ahead of the upcoming fire season because it focuses on communication, working under Unified Command, and other critical components of wildland firefighting.
There will be multiple firefighters in the area from Chino Valley Fire and other surrounding fire agencies that will likely respond to a vegetation fire in the Chino Valley, as part of the training.
